‘Rocket Gang’: Bosco Martis Turns To Virtual Reality To Shoot Film During COVID-19 Pandemic

Necessity is the mother of invention! And Bollywood’s ace choreographer Bosco Martis turns first-time director with the same notion. Now, he might not have invented this, but he sure is set to use some while he fulfils his desire of becoming a filmmaker. Before you make insinuations, I’m talking about Virtual Reality (VR) coming into the picture. Bosco Martis would have started filming his directorial debut Rocket Gang in March if COVID-19 had not reared its ugly head. Since shops in the industry shut in the pandemic, the chances of the film going on floors also took a beating. However, Bosco is now ready to roll with VR filling the gaps for multiple sequences.

Rocket Gang which is reportedly a horror-comedy which stars Aditya Seal of Student of The Year 2 fame and Netflix’s Maska’s Nikita Dutta. The film also stars a few kids, a few upcoming talents and dancers who had participated in Dance India Dance. And it is technically for them that Bosco didn’t sit on his plans and turned to VR for help.

According to Indian Express, he said, “The challenge was how to start the film as soon as possible because I don’t want the kids to grow up, because they were cast for a certain reason and look. Then VR came into play and we started working on it. I shared it with Shariq (Patel, CEO, Zee Studios) and he loved it. The team needs to be excited for the vision and I’m so glad we all are.” The film will hopefully hit the theatres in the Summer of 2021. The excited director took to Instagram to share the same.
